In central Borås, several galleries sit side by side, and by Stora Torget, Flaménska Galleriet has held its natural place since the mid-1970s. Just a stone’s throw from the city centre, you’ll also find Ålgården, beautifully located along the banks of the Viskan.

Since the mid-seventies, the Flaménska Gallery has had its obvious place at the main square in Borås. The art gallery is run by Borås and the Sjuhärad region art society and shows around ten exhibitions during the year. The gallery's ambition is to show a mix of both local and national artists but also a variety of techniques.

Wärenstams

Wärenstams

At Wärenstams you can experience everything from temporary exhibitions to the museum's art collection consisting of art from Sjuhärad, funded by the Tore G Wärenstams Foundation. Tore G Wärenstam (1908-1980) was a leading figure in the Swedish press for more than 40 years as editor-in-chief, CEO and significant owner of Borås Tidning. He laid the groundwork for the foundation that bears his name. The art collection on display is unique in its kind, with works by people who were born, live or work in the Sjuhärad region.

On Borås' coziest street Österlångatan, Gallery Revolt offers exciting art for an international audience. Gallery Revolt is a contemporary art gallery dedicated to showcasing artists whose work does not always follow mainstream trends, but who possess a deep understanding of materials and craftsmanship. The gallery focuses on artists who work with integrity and create visually striking pieces, rich in meaning and capable of connecting with the viewer on a personal level. The gallery has been run by Johanna Carlander since 2020.

It showcases local, national and international artists representing most different techniques. The gallery organises exhibitions of prominent established artists and also promotes new talent. Ålgården

Ålgården

Ålgården was originally a mill founded as early as the 17th century. Nowadays, the entire Ålgårds area is used for arts and crafts and is run by the non-profit association with the same name. There is a workshop for several artists and a gallery where several exhibitions are held every year by visiting Swedish and international artists as well as the association's own members. The beautiful outdoor environment is also sometimes used for exhibitions.
