Amalias hidden gems

Amalia studies at the Swedish School of Textiles and has gotten to know Borås as a student city during her time here. She shares her favorite hidden gems – from coffee breaks by the Viskan River to second-hand finds.

Sushi at Mary Wong

Mary Wong serves fresh sushi in a cool and cozy setting right in the city center. A special tip is their brunch buffet – perfect if you want to try a bit of everything.

Boba at July Tea

July Tea is a small spot in the city where you can grab a Boba and just take a break. I usually go there after school, especially when I’ve been studying a lot. A great alternative if you want something other than coffee.

📍Lilla Brogatan 11, 503 30 Borås

Fika at Café Viskan

"Café Viskan is a must-visit spot for fika in Borås. It’s spacious, offers plenty of choices, and is located right by the water. When the weather is nice, almost everyone sits outside enjoying the view of the Viskan River. I love their matcha latte – you simply have to try it!

📍Sandwalls Plats 3, 503 35 Borås

Night Out at Stage

When we go out, we often end up at Stage. The atmosphere is great, it’s busy, and you almost always run into someone you know.

📍Allégatan 20, 503 32 Borås

Picnic in Stadsparken

Stadsparken is the perfect spot for a relaxed lunch after class. My friends and I usually bring packed lunches or grab a salad in town and sit down there.

Shopping at the Textile Museum’s Second Hand

Borås has plenty of second-hand shops, and one of my favorites is located next to the Swedish School of Textiles. Right outside the Textile Museum, there’s a store with a carefully curated selection from various local second-hand shops.
