Torpanäset nature reserve

Länghem, Tranemo
“Torpanäset Nature Reserve is an extraordinarily beautiful place which is inundated with a sea of wood anemones in spring; lush, verdant fresh growth in early summer, and beautiful colours in autumn.”

Torpanäset Nature reserve

Hofsnäs-Torpanäset is a state nature reserve established in 2002. The reserve covers 159 ha. It includes grazing land with many old oak trees, which is the reason why the highly threatened hermit beetle is one of the insects that thrives here.

The land is grazed during summer. The area is easy to visit with fishing, swimming, boat hire, lean-to's and barbecue sites in the immediate vicinity.

You can also take a walk on one of the reserves three hiking paths, ranging from 1 to 5 kilometres long. The hike is easy and accesible with for example prams.

The reserve is one of Sjuharads finest spots and a lovely place to visit all year round!

The Hofsnäs nature trails

The Hofsnäs nature trails which are found in Torpanäset Nature Reserve, are a wonderful series of waymarked paths set in stunning countryside, with a rich flora. There are several round walks to choose between, stretching from 1 km to 4.8 km long, with some fascinating glimpses back into history as you pass by Torpa Stenhus and Hofsnäs Manor House.

There’s a cafe and bistro at Hofsnäs Manor House offering a wide choice of  lovely homemade delicacies and dishes inspired by the season, and what local producers have to offer. Just 4 km from Hofsnäs lies Torpa Stenhus, one of Sweden’s best preserved 16th century manor houses, where you can admire the unique architecture, and hear stories about the castle’s eventful history. Torpa’s Castle Café and Restaurant serve delicious food inspired by its centuries old hunting traditions and seasonal specialities. You can also stay overnight in style, in the accommodation available in the castle grounds.
